The Whangaripo Valley is defined by the tree-lined Whangaripo Stream that runs the length of the valley. It has its source close to the East Coast in the Tamahunga bush and nearby hills and becomes the Hoteo River flowing out into the Kaipara Harbour in the West.
The valley is an attractive, fertile area, originally mainly consisting of dairy and dry stock farms positioned between the renowned Tomarata farming district and the Matakana Village with its cinemas, farmers market and vineyards.
To the East is the ocean beach of Pakiri and to the West are the main highway, and Wellsford. This lovely 15 km long valley is changing in character and now has many lifestyle properties and a wider variety of uses ranging from olive growing to milking buffalo for cheese.
This is a very popular area being just over an hour from the Auckland Harbour Bridge via the southbound motorway and tunnels.
