Warkworth, New Zealand, is located on the main highway of the North Island of New Zealand, only an hour’s drive north of the nearest major city, Auckland. It is far enough away from the city to have a “country” feel, yet close enough for its residents to be able to continue to enjoy the amenities offered by a large city.
Warkworth itself is a fast-developing village offering a range of services from farming equipment and supplies to restaurants and vineyards with a reputation that attracts clients from outside the Rodney district.
Warkworth is the gateway to popular coastal areas such as Omaha Beach, with its stunning white sand surf beach, Goat Island with its marine reserve and scuba diving activities, and the fast-growing village of Matakana with its open-air Saturday morning market and movie theatres. The Warkworth area is well-known for its abundance of vineyards and has a popular “wine trail” enabling visitors to sample the wide variety of wines throughout the area.
